A report from the watchdog group Public Citizen examined 27 known donors to the $400 million project. It found that 14 of these companies received new or expanded government contracts in the last half-year. Since the 2021 fiscal year, 19 of the 27 firms have collectively landed $338 billion in federal business, with at least 16 currently navigating federal enforcement actions or regulatory scrutiny.
Lockheed Martin leads the beneficiaries, securing $43.8 billion in contracts after pledging $10 million to the ballroom fund. Other significant recipients include Booz Allen Hamilton and Palantir, which saw contract awards of $4 billion and $1 billion respectively. Public Citizen advocate Jon Golinger noted that these corporations are seeking favorable treatment from the administration rather than acting out of philanthropic intent.
