The company, founded in 2017 by Gerardo Salandra, Hassan Ahmed, and Iaroslav Kudritskiy, currently manages 2 billion messages per quarter for mid- to large-sized B2C enterprises. By integrating AI agents to handle inquiries across platforms like WhatsApp, TikTok, and Telegram, Respond.io has achieved $35 million in annual recurring revenue, growing 169% year-over-year with a 30% profit margin.
Malaysia’s Respond.io secures $62.5 million to scale AI messaging
Kuala Lumpur-based Respond.io has raised $62.5 million in a Series B round led by Camber Partners. The startup, which provides AI-driven customer conversation management, plans to use the capital to accelerate its expansion into North American and European markets through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

Unlike traditional enterprise software that bills per user, Respond.io utilizes a volume-based pricing model for customer conversations. This strategy allows the company to remain profitable regardless of whether interactions are handled by human agents or AI. Salandra believes this structure, combined with a specialized focus on messaging rather than email or phone systems, creates a "data flywheel" that positions the company to outpace legacy competitors. With the new funding, the team is actively scouting for acquisitions to capture market share in Western regions, where messaging adoption is accelerating rapidly.
