The acquisition follows a period of rapid growth for Missionforce, which saw an 80% revenue increase year-over-year following a $5.6 billion, 10-year contract with the U.S. Army. By folding in Rune’s frontline data capabilities, Salesforce aims to bridge the gap between military supply chain management and real-time field logistics. Rune, founded in 2024, previously secured $30 million in funding from backers including Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, and the CIA-affiliated IQT. The startup’s last valuation hit $127 million during a Series A round led by Human Capital.
Salesforce targets defense logistics with $375M Rune acquisition
Salesforce is expanding its footprint in the national security sector with the $375 million acquisition of Rune Technologies. The deal integrates the startup’s AI-driven logistics software into Missionforce, Salesforce’s specialized defense unit, marking a strategic pivot from administrative planning to active battlefield operations support.
This purchase adds to a broader acquisition strategy at Salesforce, which has aggressively targeted AI-centric startups throughout the year. The company recently committed $3.6 billion to acquire the AI agent platform Fin and $1.2 billion for Qualified. Salesforce also reached a deal to acquire Listen Labs following the startup’s departure from a $1.5 billion valuation Series C term sheet.
