Meta expands Muse AI agent to iPad with new business integrations

Meta has brought its Muse assistant to the iPad just one month after its mobile debut, signaling an aggressive push to embed its AI agent into daily workflows. The rapid expansion contrasts sharply with the years of user requests required to bring Instagram to Apple's tablet platform.

Since the September 8 launch on iOS and Android, Muse has surpassed 6.6 million installs. The application functions as a personal hub, managing tasks ranging from email organization and meeting scheduling to grocery orders and complex purchases. Meta achieves this through a system of “connectors,” which allow users to selectively grant the AI access to specific third-party accounts.

The iPad release coincides with a significant expansion of these integrations, specifically targeting small business users. New additions include Asana, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, GitHub, Klaviyo, and Zoom, alongside productivity tools like Notion and Granola. Furthermore, Meta is scaling its retail partnerships, enabling the agent to execute transactions directly on sites like Walmart, Sephora, and Best Buy.

Despite this growth, the technology faces friction as retail websites frequently flag AI agents as unauthorized bots. To address this, Meta is collaborating with industry partners to develop an open standard that allows personal agents to verify their identity. This framework aims to distinguish legitimate consumer-facing AI from malicious traffic, ensuring consistent access to shopping and productivity platforms.
