Israeli Airstrike on Gaza Press Tent Kills Five Al Jazeera Journalists

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) defended the action by labeling al-Sharif the head of a Hamas terrorist cell—an assertion widely rejected by human rights organizations and UN experts. Critics describe the claim as a smear campaign designed to justify the targeting of a journalist who had recently gained international attention for reporting on the starvation crisis in the region. Estimates from the CPJ suggest that over 180 journalists have died during the ongoing assault, while the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate reports the toll as high as 230.
